Before releasing music under his own name, Wizpec had experience performing behind another artist. Born Okoro Opeoluwa Michael and raised on Lagos Island, the Nigerian singer began his career as a backup dancer for Sound Sultan. He later moved into recording, releasing music that draws on Afrobeats and R&B.
Wizpec began releasing his own material in 2017 with “Olorun O Je”. The song brought him early recognition and was followed by further releases as he worked to establish himself as a recording artist. His background in dance gave him an early connection to live performance, but his subsequent work has centred on songwriting, recording and collaborations.
In 2020, Wizpec released Afrocentric, an EP that gave him room to explore his musical interests across several tracks. It was an early project in a catalogue that would later include collaborations with Boyblizz, another Nigerian artist with whom he has worked on multiple releases.

Their most substantial joint project to date is Good Things Take Time, an 18-track album released in March 2023. The record brings together elements of Afrobeats, R&B and highlife across its tracklist. Rather than limiting their partnership to a guest appearance, Wizpec and Boyblizz worked together across the album, sharing the project between them.
Tracks including “Riddim” and “Signs” feature on the record. “Riddim” draws on sounds associated with 1990s R&B and Afrobeat, connecting older musical influences with contemporary production. The album also includes “Monalisa”, “Pain Away” and “God Abeg”. Its length allows the two artists to explore different sounds and moods, although the material varies across the tracklist.
Good Things Take Time received the Debut Album of the Year award at the 2023 Golden Star Awards. The project became a notable part of Wizpec’s discography and established his collaboration with Boyblizz as a recurring part of his work. The pair continued working together after the album’s release, including on a visualizer for “Signs” in 2024.
Wizpec’s music sits within Nigeria’s broad contemporary Afrobeats scene, but his releases also draw from R&B and other styles. These influences are apparent in the material he has released so far, though his sound varies from track to track. His work with Boyblizz has been an important part of that catalogue, alongside his solo releases.
His career has also included performances outside Nigeria. In April 2025, Wizpec performed in Tehran, Iran. He also appeared at Felabration in Lagos in 2026, joining the programme of the annual festival celebrating the life and music of Fela Anikulapo-Kuti.
