DJ Jossy James is preparing to release his new mixtape, This Is Afro, and it could arrive as early as next week. The DJ shared the news on social media, but did not give a firm date, saying the drop depends on how production goes.
The project is another chapter in his run through African sounds. Jossy James has worked with Afrobeats, R&B and Hip-Hop, and the title points to a mixtape built around music from across the continent.
Born Joseph James, the DJ grew up in Ajegunle, Lagos, where he was surrounded by Nigerian music from an early age. That background shaped his mixing style, and his love for contemporary music allows him to blend African sounds with newer records.
The mixtape arrives as African music continues to reach more listeners globally, with DJs playing a big role in introducing audiences to new artists through mixes and live performances. Jossy James has also supported emerging acts, and discovering fresh music remains a big part of what he does.
No tracklist or featured artists have been announced yet, but fans can expect more details closer to the drop.
